CRNA certification

Published

I am a nursing student, and plan on becoming a CRNA. Growing up in the Northern U.S., I have always planned on moving to Canada. If I continued my schooling in the U.S., and recieved my certification in the U.S. would it be a hard process to and move and recertify in Canada? I guess I'm wondering if it is a difficult process to switch over? Or would it be easier to complete nursing school in the U.S. and then move to Canada to finish the rest of my schooling?

How different are the requirements between the U.S. and Canada?

Thanks.

Canada...sounds chilly :D Good luck!

I know Canada has its own requirements to practice as an RN and you will need to pass their boards as a minimum requirement. Google the information, then contact them with your question. In the end the official governing body over Canadian nursing is going to make the decision on whether you can practice there, so it makes sense to get your answers from them.

Good luck!

From my understanding, CRNA's are not used in Canada. I live in Michigan and our hospital has a couple CRNA's that work here, but still reside in Canada. They commute back and forth daily.
