Hello all! I need some help/advice. I'm an aspiring CRNA who applied for the past 2 application cycles but have yet to make it in. I'm trying so hard to keep the positivity and determination up but am honestly starting to waver a little. I had a couple of interviews last year and was waitlisted at a school the year prior. I tried to reach out to the schools for advice but was met with crickets.
A little about me...
-Bachelor's of Science-Nutrition Sciences 3.52
-Bachelor's of Science-Nursing 3.65
-Almost 4 years in Neuro ICU at a Comprehensive Stroke Center/major teaching hospital
-Certs/Licenses/Awards: CCRN, US-Guided PIV Insertion Certified, ENLS, TNCC, Hospital Code Blue Coordinator (carry the code pager a couple times a year), BLS/ACLS/PALS, Preceptor, Unit Representative for Professional Governance Quality and Practice Committee, Daisy Award Nomination (2024 and 2025), various community service projects, shadow experience with CRNAs (though honestly have not shadowed in the past year so looking to get started with that again)
Does anyone have any advice on things that I can do to help me stand out? I feel like I'm starting to run out of opportunities at my hospital and I know the next application cycle is starting up for 2026 matriculation. I'm really looking for any advice at all but more specifically...
-Do you think it is worth having someone (other than friends/family) read my essays? Like someone from Fiverr or TeachRN or some other service?
-Thoughts on switching to another ICU to get a different type of experience?
-What about taking more classes (if so, any recs on where to do that)? One of the schools I'm going to apply to will not accept AP credit courses so I'm planning on taking undergraduate statistics early this Summer
