cpt to opt

Suzanne or anyone who knows

I am an F1 nursing student in the US. currently working part-time on CPT as a PCT/CNA . I plan to apply for OPT in February 2007 to be effective in July 2007, since I plan to take the NCLEX by the 1st week of July. Graduation:May 2007.

Ouestion: Can I continue to work part-time on CPT as a PCT/CNA after I graduate on May 20th or do I have to stop working until my OPT kicks in and I start working as an RN? I am wondering about the 2 month interim time between when I graduate and when I start working on OPT in July. I donot plan on using my OPT time to work as a PCT/CNA.

Also, can someone tell me the name of the countries directly affected by the retrogression in Oct?

tks

Noone knows the countries affected until it is released. Usually Phillipines, India and China historically. I believe ALL countries will be affected until it is lifted though... but I could be wrong!

The expected countries include Mexico, Philippines, India, and China. There are going to be a few more that will be added, but these have been the definites that have been talked about for some time.

Working with the CPT will be dependent on its expiration date, as long as it is valid, you are okay...........but if it expires before the OPT starts, then you will not be able to work during that time.

Depending on where you were born, and what is happening with the retrogression, it may be wiser for you to get the NCLEX-RN done as quickly as possible and then go for the AOS, or Adjustment of Status.......and not even worry about the OPT.
