CPNE Date

Published

Well I received my CPNE date today in the mail. February 29-March 2 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, NY. I think i'm going to have to decline the date though. I really haven't studied due to a lot of things going on. so I don't know if I should buckle down and really start studying and hope i'm ready in 2 months or decline the date and have them send me a different test date and lose $100. My concern with not accepting this date is it take another 2 months to receive a date and then another 2 months until I test. Any tips or suggestions? Anyone know how they are at St. Joseph's?

i have the same dates! you can still decline without losing $100... did you get a letter of acceptance in your packet? you can check the box where you decline and won't cost you a thing. unless you already told them you accepted the date?!

Just FYI, I was originally applied in November 06 and was scheduled to take the CPNE in Albany in June 07. Two months before the exam, I took an excelsior workshop, and I really felt I would not be ready. I requested them to reschedule. No problem.. they don't charge the $100 fee for the first time. The new date I got was 3 months later in September '07. At the end of August, I attended chancellors careplan lab in indiana, which really helped me pull all the skills and PCS together. If you have been studying, but just don't feel confident with the cpne right now, maybe consider chancellor's or a program similar to it. IME, if you're at least 50% prepared for the cpne, and then took the week-long careplan lab, i'd feel comfortable walking right into the cpne focused and determined to breeze right through. This way, you won't be postponing graduation or just giving yourself more time to procrastinate :)

Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll do what's best for you! Is it realistic to think that you have the time to really buckle down over the next two months? If not, I'd reschedule ... but like billythekid said, make sure you do something to ensure you won't procrastinate!
