thank you all so much.

i am sending this letter in regards to the lvn position. i believe that i have the skills and qualifications needed to be successful in this position. i recently received my lvn license and am looking for an entry level position that allows me to help clients and make a difference in their lives. i have a ba in psychology, am bilingual, and know how to work with difficult clients. i am dependable, able to multitask effectively, have excellent communications skills, and am friendly and cooperative.

if you have any questions or would like to schedule an interview please call or email me.

thank you for your time and consideration.

respectfully yours,

Done. Thank you so much and congratulations.

Me me me.

It will always come across best if it's addressed to THEM and their needs. I know what your values are, I know how you value XYZ and ABC, and here's how I support that and be of service to you. It shows that you've researched their company and not just mailed out the same letter to 50 different companies.

That goes for nursing, journalism, or any field and will put your application in the "YES!" bin rather than the trash. :p

I'm sorry but your cover letter doesn't stand out at all. It doesn't sell what you have to offer to the employer--all it tells me is that you have the licence to work, that you speak two languages and that you want a job. Your cover letter sounds generic and not tailored to the position; it tells me that you meet the bare minimum criteria for the job, but nothing more. You need to spice up your cover letter to make it uniquely you and to tailor it to the position. A longer cover letter with more substance would be better than what you have right now.

I have applied for 130 RN positions as a new grad looking for a position. There is NO way I can tailor the cover letter to every single hospital's posting. And, some hospital's websites only allow you to upload a different resume/cover letter a maximum of 5 times. Here's the thing, I love taking care of my patient's, I am compassionate and qualified, I am licensed, dependable and drug free, but now I have to read HR's minds on cover letter mumbo jumbo. You can't win.
