Welcome to the site! I've placed your message in the Ohio Forum so that you get the best responses. Good luck to you!

Be careful with the free classes sometimes they require you to work for a particular facility for them to be 'Free'. Most classes in my area are $500.00 or more depending on the teaching site. Then there is a cost for the test. Not sure of your area but Tech schools in my area also require pre-reqs, for the class. Most of the pre-reqs are just basics proving that you have a base education to build on but that also maybe an additional cost not include with the tuition for the STNA classes.

If you could work at a LTC facility and care for you mother that maybe the cheaper rout. They will usually pay for you to take the classes and the test if you work for them. If you quit before a specified amount of time they may also ask for you to pay them back.

Good Luck, It is worth looking in to.

I'm not sure what part of Ohio you're in but I'm in Kettering. I went to a school that cost about $600 but some people in my class had their school paid for by a program called WIA. Sorry I don't even know what that stands for but if they met certain financial requirements they had their classes and even 2 pairs of scrubs paid for. So what I'm saying is that even if you don't find free classes you can maybe find a program that will pay for them for you. Good luck!
