Hello Nursing World,
I have an upcoming interview with San Bernardino County Sheriff's department for Correctional Nurse position. Has anyone went through this process, also what are the questions that they ask on the interview? My experience has only been in acute care.
Thanks

I was a correctional nurse in a men's maximum security prison for three years. By far my favorite nursing gig. They will ask you safety questions. ALWAYS secure the scene first. I don't care if you see an inmate collapse, ALWAYS secure the scene then assess. Never see an inmate alone without a guard. I was also asked why I wanted to work with the population. There were a few protocol questions pertaining to chest pain and hypoglycemia. Relax. It is going to be a different world but soon it will be 2nd nature
