I just got out of navy 9 months ago and I was curious if any other corpsmen have gone onto become Nurses??? Did the experience you gained as a corpsman help you in school??

Corpsman,
I actually have a friend that was a corpsman for 5 or 6 years, got accepted to the MECP and has been a nurse in the Navy for lke 2 years now. I think it did help her alot. I have another friend who is a corpsman in the Navy and she is going to school at the same time for her RN in VA. (I used to be in the Navy, too, but I was an FC)

i was in the Navy too, as an IT I got out to go to nursing school and hopefully back in! I thought as a HM you could challenge the LVN test and then just go LVN to BSN! or ASN whatever you like. In my first week of MA trng at the VA I have met a HM and a medic who challenged the LVN board!

There is a great military forum here. I would check it out for information. I can't help you out too much, I was in the Marine Corps for four and now I am slowing working my way to nursing school. Thanks for your service Doc!

Hi, my daughter is active duty Navy, teaches at Corps School, she is taking on line RN through Excelsior. I think that only certain states, one for sure is California, will allow HMs to to challenge the LPN.
Thanks for all the advice! I was told you could only challenge the LVN in a few states but I will look into it further. Thanks Agian!
