Contract offers

I am getting a fairly good increase in contract offers via email for NP and RN jobs in the military. Anyone have any ideas if this is a route the military may be looking into more or just a seasonal swing?

Please include the service you are referring to... job or MOS title would be helpful as well.

There is a cycle or recruiting - it begins with the new fiscal year which we are already well into.

Also I I guess I need to clarify: All agency offerings.

None from the Navy. Most from the Army and than the Air Force.

All have been for Nurse Practitioner...

Though I have noted a few pop up on my federal jobs notifications: Mostly Army, few Air Force, none Navy...

The AF uses a lot of contract medical providers, including NPs, from what I can tell it is a very nice way to work for the AF. The patient load is generally fairly light compared to the civilian sector, the hours are great, and you don't have to deal with most of the stuff that can make being a military provider a pain in the butt( recalls/OPRS/deployments/change in jobs etc).

These jobs are more or less a constant, but there is a catch. Since these are contract and not GS jobs the contractors can change periodically. What this means to you is you may keep exactly the same job and benefits, or the new contractor can decide it wants to hire someone else/change pay scales etc (in general though they are all required to offer the same basic benefits....which are pretty close to GS employees from what I have seen).

Nothing is simple in the military....lol

Can you name some good agencies for RN ICU contract work?

Thanks!
