So, here’s the deal. I was a terrible student in high school. I never studied or did homework. I’m not making excuses but my childhood and home life were abusive and traumatic. Think of the movie Precious. Anywho, i am 23 now and all of that is behind me. I really want to enroll in this LPN program of 12 months. I really think that if I applied myself, obviously I’ll probably need tutors or enroll in a cc math class or something, do you guys think this is a realistic goal?

Absolutely! Have a look at their scope of practice where you live as 12 months seems like it would be a very fast paced, intense program-where I live it’s a two year program and could really be more, but our scope is essentially that of an RN. But I’m in a very similar situation to you (rough childhood, didn’t apply myself) and I’m almost done my lpn program and doing very well! I 100% think you should do it! Its a lot of work, it’s super challenging, but it’s so rewarding! And it’s easier to study and put in effort when it’s something you care about and you have a clear goal in mind. Go for it!

Yes, it is realistic! You may need a remedial math class or two (I needed three when I began getting my pre-req's for my ADN), but you can definitely do this. What a great way to validate yourself. Good luck!
