Most students who attend a private vocational school complete their LPN programs in 11 to 12 months, whereas the community college takes one and a half to 2 years to finish. The vocational school route is often more costly than the community college route, but you graduate in half the time without a degree (diploma only). If you complete a community college LPN program, it will take longer but you'll graduate with an associate of applied science degree in practical nursing.

If you want to communicate with other Connecticut nurses, this site has a Connecticut nurses' forum: https://allnurses.com/forums/f139/

Hi, CT lpns make pretty good money, but most of the jobs left are for

LTC or agency..I have six years exp and was paid $35 an hr to do

baylor shifts. As i new grad i started with $24.50 an hr. My nursing

program lasted about a year..Good luck....:wink2:

Does anyone know info about stone academy in hamden ct??? Such as cost of tuition and days of classes etc???

I go to the program offered by the State of CT..its alot cheaper than the privatized schools but its 15 months instead of 12.

I know of New England Tech and the vocational technical schools, like Bullard havens in Bridgeport, Stamford, Danbury, Middletown and New Britian. I wanted to go to the LPN route, but I decided to go to a two years private school with no waiting list. Good luck to you.

futurenurseinct-do you go to neti? I looked into that but didn;t know how I would pay the tuition. I am trying to get in bullard havens in bpt, first test date is april 1st. But it doesn't start until 2007:uhoh21: So, I may have to go the private school route too. I googled lpn schools in ct and came up with Stone Academy in hamden-probably the same tuition as neti. Please give more info about the private schools-do you like it? I'm just starting to look into things and getting overwhelmed-don't know where to begin!!!!!!!! ALso, are you working and going to school? I don't think i can give up working -too many bill here! Thanks
