Con-Ed in Alberta and NB

Hi,

I will graduating school next April and was looking to move to one of those two provinces (I have lots of family in both and kind of tired of Ontario, for now). I was wondering where I can find some information on the Continuing Education courses that are avalible, such as a mental health, emerge, L & D or nephrology certificates. As well as how nurses in these provinces can specialize in an area of nursing through further education

Thanks

Kristen

Your profile doesn't mention if you are LPN or RN, so its a bit difficult to answer those questions.

AB does have advanced practice courses for LPNs after graduation (OR and Ortho technician certification), dialysis training is usually obtained through the hospital. Psych and maternity nursing were covered in our basic education.

AB has a Registered Psychiatric Nurse designation which is a different training programme from the RN.

Sorry I will be an RN. I hope that this helps more, and thanks for your response.

Mount Royal in Alberta offers continuing education courses for RNs in specialty areas. http://www.mtroyal.ab.ca is their website I think. You can do their courses by distance as well.
