D5LR = D5 + LR
D5NSS = D5 + NSS
D50.3NSS = D5 + 0.3NSS
D50 = just D50
Hope that helps.

1 D5LR % Dextrose in Lactated Ringers. This is a balanced electolyte solution with dextrose. One liter of dextrose will have 170 calories
2 Normal saline is an isotonic IVF (similar to body fluids). NS has 154 meq of sodium and 154 meq of chloride.
2.The rest are mostly combination's of the above so D5 1/2 NS is the dextrose mied with half the concentration of saline with 77 meq sodium and 77 meq chloride.
Does this make sense?....now learn what each is used for and where those fluids go in the body based on their tonicity.
