Compass Testing

I know I've seen threads here about compass tests but I can't seem to find them! :o

I have to take an english test...what should I expect? Are there any sites that give practice tests or anything? I really want to do well and I'm afraid I might be kind of rusty. What kind of questions do they ask? Is it hard? Is it long?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Hi! I recently took this same test to get into school...if you go to the ACT.ORG site, you will be able to find information and sample questions for the compass test there. Hope this helps you...the test isn't hard:)

Also check at the university's library for a study guide for the compass. It will help you study by showing you how the test is set up.

i, myself couldn't find a lot of free info for the compass when i wanted to study for the test, but i can tell you a little about it. the english is general grammar (read a sentence and decide the best option for the underlined portion. reading read paragraphs then answer questions about what you read. math has everything from a little geometry, algebra and basic math. i know that everytime you get an answer right it gives you a harder question and if you get the next one wrong then the next question will be easier and etc... i think the test was timed, but i never felt pressed for time.

just take your time and answer correctly because you can't go back and change it. it's a computerized test.

hope this helps!

Thanks for the tips! I take the exam on Friday--I'll be sure to spend some time on that site you posted, Jen...I already took the preview test on the compass site and got the answers right--I hope that is a sign of what's to come!

Thanks again!

Lanie

Hey Lanie,

Good Luck on your test! Hope the site is helpful...it was for me.
