I am writing a paper about current nursing issues and am specifically concentrating on community/home care. Please help me by letting me know what your most upsetting/frustrating/annoying/etc. issues are in the home care area...ie. isolation, conflicting policies, MD's who won't listen or assist in care, other staff conflicts, etc.

Any issues would be great...any that were resolved would be great too.

Now I only did a very very brief stint in HH nursing (2 months) but my biggest frustration was trying to convince the doctors that their pt was NOT safe to stay at home alone anymore.

Had a pt w/ no family in the area...she was totally dependent on community resources (i.e. meals on wheels, volunteers for rides to appts, etc)...one day she soiled herself. She couldn't get herself cleaned up nor could she get to a phone. She sat there for several hours until her housekeeper came in. It took me forever to convince the *&&()(& doc to transport her to the hosp for nursing home placement. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
