Coliseum Vs MCCG

I am stuck between the two hospitals and was hoping some very nice employees could tell me their experience with the hospitals. I know Coliseum is better money wise but is it worth the stress that comes with the job as well???

I can't comment on MCCG as I've never worked there. I recently took a job at Coliseum as a transfer from another HCA facility and I can honestly say I love it there! What departments are you looking at? That makes a difference!

The cardiac stepdown unit

I know they are going through some huge changes on CVU right now.....new management ect

The interview person let me know that as well. Unfortunately for them MCCG called with a legit (in writing) offer first so I decided to go with them. I am precepting in a critical care unit right now and I think I would like to pursue that specialty in the future but I decided to start on the Med Surg floor at MCCG to get my basic knowledge

but can you tell me if the CVU is a good floor???

CVU would be a great experience.....they deal with alot of s/p CABG ect and you would get really familiar with cardiac drugs......can't say exactly what your working experience would be like as I don't work there specifically....I do know that critical care at coliseum does hire new grads and so does 5 west and CVU

Hey, don't mean to butt in but Kelly how are the medsurg floors on Coliseum? I was offered a position at the downtown location and I am really interested in learning more about the facility before I make a decision. How is the staff morale, turnover rate, and overall flow of things? Are the patient-nurse ratios high? Do doctors and nurses have a relativity good relationship? Any management problems? I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about Coliseum and many referred to it as a "work in progress" due to recent changes in many departments.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if you're still looking for info, but I work at MCCG. If you still have questions, let me know and I'd be happy to help you out

I'm new to the area and notices that MCCG has a peds hopsital. I'm super interested in peds. Do you know if they hire new RNs and/or if they are hiring? It seems like there are not any jobs posted for peds anywhere in the warner robins/macon area. I have a 6 months experience as a nurse tech on a peds unit, did my preceptorship for school in PICU, and recently acquired the title RN BSN.

I am interested as well about MCCG vs. Coliseum. Allow me to give a little bit of my history. Been in EMS since 2006, been a Paramedic since 2007. I currently am finishing up my RN degree, and will graduate in December. I hold Instructor certifications in CPR, ACLS, PALS, ITLS, PITLS, and EPC. I have been selected for AMLS instructor as well. I also have 1.5 years of supervisory/management experience. Needless to say, I am very comfortable in my assessment and treatment skills. I currently work in an ER right now, and pretty much function as an RN now, to a certain extent. What hospital do you think would be a better fit for me? I want to go work in either a CVCU/CCU, Cath Lab, or ER. Which hospital will also pay better?
