CNA training where?

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get certified as a nursing assistant, or PCA, Patient Tech. I currently work as a HHA and want a free or affordable class, and start working in the hospital. If anyone one know a place, and length of classes it would be greatly appreciated. OH I'm looking for somewhere in Long Island preferably Nassau county. Im a fulltime nursing student..but was hoping some hospital would have a class over the winter break.

Welcome to allnurses first of all.

I am not really familiar with NY laws but I would imagine that the local hospitals human resources might be a place to start asking.

Another suggestion would be the NY Board of Nursing.

We have a CNA forum here on allnurses and I'm going to transfer your post to that forum.

Check with your BON. Maybe you can work as a student nurse in the hospital after your first semester of nursing school. I know many nursing students that did that in GA. Good luck to you in nursing school.

Many nursing homes will train you as a CNA for free, if you agree to work for them afterward.
