CNA training in AA County.

hi im an RN there and you should apply for a PCT position the training that you receive there i believe qualifies as a CNA once you pass the tests and its not 6 mos. look online at the patient care tech jobs,

The job that I saw on there that actually got me thinking of CNA training was a PCT2 position in the Antepartum department- which is perfect for me because I want to get my BSN and be an L&D nurse. One of the requirements is CNA certification, though.

The job description says that 1-2 years experience is preferred, though. Don't know if that should deter me from applying or not? What are your suggestions?

Also, is BLS training included in CNA training that you know of? I would think it is- but if I have to take some CPR classes in addition to CNA training, that wouldn't be a problem.

look for pct 1 jobs thats for beginners pct 2 is for more experiance. i would call human resources and talk to the pct HR rep

i understand from aamc that they only hire for pct1 positions a few times a year. they prefer to hire/train from within. my guess is that you could get a foot in the door somehow, calling, dropping by, job fair, not sure.

i gave up pursueing the pct job (for now) because 1. i know that 1st semester ns will be challenging 2. after 1st semester, you are qualified as pct.

my plan is to begin talking to people and making connections in the spring, during 1st semester and then move into FT work for the summer.
