how to be a CNA?

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hi,

I'm an immigrant here in US and is an RN in Philippines. I have no plans on taking NCLEX since BON CA is tight right now for foreign nurses wanting to take the exam. By any chance, is there anyone here who knows on how can I be certified Nursing Assistant here in San Diego, California. I want to be a CNA for the mean time while waiting for the approval in taking the LVN exam? What school or training center should I go (if needed)?

Your knowledge, experience and advice is higly appreciated :)

Looking forward for a response.

Thanks

Ohh just submit their application form using the equivalency method, by the way when did you graduate? the equivalency only works if you graduated not more than 2 years prior to submission.

I graduated 2011. Does this mean that I no longer eligible? By any chance, do you know a specific website where I could go to check some qualifications?

if thats the case you need to provide an employment related to nursing (pay stub will do) thats what I did before.

here's the copy of CNA application form

Goodluck

I went thru the CNA/HHA program at the Continuing Education Center on Park Blvd., across the street from City College in San Diego, CA. I graduated in Sept. 2013. It was a fantastic program, and the instructors, especially the CNA instructor, were excellent!

The classes are FREE, you just have to buy your books, uniform, etc. But, there is a very long waiting list.

You can go to their website and sign up to get on the waiting list. I did, then forgot about it. When they finally contacted me, I had to sign up for an orientation appt. right away (I mean immediately!). Pick one of the earliest available appts. that you possibly can, and be on time. There is then a few qualifications that you must meet. Do them immediately, if you want to get in the class. And.....Good Luck!!

hi. I just recently subscribed to their mailing list since classes aren't available yet. for nursing assistant.

Thanks for sharing this info. :)
