CNA state test

I took my state test today and felt really good and confident! Passed my written then when it was time for my skills, that's when things got bad. Everyone's first skill was hand washing and as I was in the middle I was stopped twice and told I needed to count 10 sec before cleaning my nails and I never once touched my nails. When I got to my 2nd skill I was doing oral care and I didn't put the side rail down when I put the towel on the resident. So I got marked off then when I was done I had gloves on and with the side rail down (I didn't step away) but the gloves were "dirty" and I didn't want to get marked at infection for touching the side rail with my gloves so I took them off. I didn't even take a step when I threw away the gloves. Then was told that I was done and had failed. I didn't even get three tries. I have worked in a nursing home for 4 years and it's just so stupid that I failed. I hate failing then having to tell people, like my mom who is a nurse and my employer. Just do not want anyone to feel disappointed in me.

Sorry. That's a bummer that you didn't pass.

If it will make you feel better, some people who give the test can be more strict then others. I've heard of people failing a skills test

2x's with the same proctor, then going to another site for the test and passing it with no problems.

Not blaming the proctor....or you, for not passing, just saying, some are willing to over look minor offenses while others jump on them and fail you because of them.

Chin up. Review and practice more (saying each step out loud) and I bet you will pass with no sweat the next time. At least you will have more of an idea of what's expected. Call it a learning experience...not a failure!

Just scheduled yourself a retake in the skills....maybe even a different tester if that's possible. Sorry....please don't ge t discouraged!

it's good you have accepted bad luck before someone else discouraged you .uh am also scared i will start soon classes and eventually i will have to do state exam ~!i hope to make it ! thank you and if anyone need to advise you most welcome..blessings
