CNA and Phlebotomy

I'm almost finished with my CNA training and then I start with a 7 week course in Phlebotomy. Can I use both of these certifications for one job? Or will being a certified phlebotomist be just something "extra" How can I put these 2 to good use at the same time?

Multitasking is the wave of the future. It is cheaper to have one person do several skills than to pay several people a full salary and benefits to just do one. I was able to use my skills to become a patient care associate, something similar to the medical assistant, and in fact, I was able to work in a physician's office with those skills. I strongly suspect that you will be able to utilize both skills once you start applying for jobs. The more proficient you are at phlebotomy, the more marketable and dependable you will be. In fact, most nurses are not that proficient in phlebotomy because our training does not focus in that area. It is also a good skill to have if you should decide to pursue nursing. I still use my skills in blood drawing and can now initiate IV lines from my many years of phlebotomy experience. Good luck! You made a great decision.

To anyone who is intrest in taking a phlebotomy class there is one offered through a site called medtexx it is a one day class usually on a weekend in different states

as a nurse extern with a certification in phlebotomy...i learned a lot! kudos to you! do those blood draws baby! :balloons::monkeydance:
