CNA after NCLEX?

Hi...I will be taking NCLEX-RN next week...I currently work as a CNA in a nursing home, and my employer is aware that I will be taking the NCLEX *soon*, but doesn't know exactly *when*.

Here is my question...upon finding out that I have passed **crossing fingers**, do I have to quit working as a CNA immediately upon finding out, or can I wait until I get my license from the BON?

Thanks for any info, and good luck to everyone taking the NCLEX--I'm trying to keep calm, but it's hard :o

As long as still certified as a CNA and you're not licensed as a nurse, I see no reason to quit working as a CNA. Once a nursing license is issued, it might create some scope of practice issues, but you should check with your board of nursing and your employer on that one.

Best of luck on the NCLEX next week! Make sure you drop by and let us know how things go.

You should be able to work as a GN after graduation. Congrats and good luck with taking th NCLEX....
