CNA Job Question

Hi everyone,

I am about to start a CNA program but will need a job immediately following my completion and passing of the certification test. I was wondering if I would be able to start applying to jobs in hospitals now and just let them know that I won't be fully licensed until the end of May or if i should wait a little longer? I just need a job immediately following my completion and want to get a head start instead of having to rush once I finish...plus I know it usually takes some time before getting a call in for an interview.

What do you guys think?

Thank you for your advice!

Melissa

I don't think you need to be certified to work in a hospital, at least the hospitals around here you don't. I guess it depends on where you are located. In this city the hospitals have PCA or PSA positions and I know that one of the hospitals has their own training program for PCAs'. The other hospital requires BLS certification and pc skills. I am going to be taking a Nurse Aide training class starting Monday at the local community college and I am also scheduled for my BLS certification training so I can apply to either hospital.

I say, go for it. All they can say is no.

In my state the rule is that a facility can hire you without certification but you must get certified within 4 months.
