CNA or what? i'm frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!

first thing first i'm new to this forum, so bear with me.

i'm 19 going on 20 years old and i have been out of high school for a year now. im currently in my first quarter at a tech school getting my lpn. im only a quarter away from getting my cna. im thinking about cna just to get my feet wet. right now im working at jcpenny for a petty 6.75/h (15-20h per week). i was wondering would it be wise to get my cna while in lpn school (or to pay for it?)? is it really worth it? and am i just wasting time at my current job?

i plan on bridging from lpn to rn.

I'm not really sure about the "quarter system" is that like half of a semester? Anyway, here I believe the LPN program lasts about a year. I would definitely, if you're not happy at JCPenny, consider getting a job as a CNA, you'll more than likely make more and like you said, get your feet wet. The more experience, the better.

CNA's make great nurses! You will never really understand what your CNA's will go through when you become a nurse if you never have been one. I think it would be a great learning experience and it will get your feet wet and in the door for your future empolyment. If your a CNA and love your job and a great employee you may even be able for a greater pay at your job when you become a LPN. And if your a great LPN have even a bigger change at management if you work in a nursing home. Also, I'm a new CNA and have been learning many things that make me push to become a RN even more so. It has encourage me in more than 1 way to get my RN license. I say go for it!

get your feet wet, it will help shape an experienced career and an understanding of your future to come. Also as you are in school learning more nurse related things you will be able to become a super-cna and surpass the expectations your superiors have for you (of course staying within your scope of practice)
