CNA Exam

Hello all,

I'm about to retake the clinical skills portion in a few days. I reside in Florida. I've studied the material and know it well, but I'm afraid that I'll fail again. Any recommendations or tips to pass? Should I lock the wheels on the bed each time? I didn't last time and didn't get marked off. Should I lower the bed each time? I didn't get marked off last time either. I was told by someone else who recently took the test to wear gloves with every skill to be sure. I don't think that with certain skills, that's necessary. Like vitals, ROM, ambulation, transfer, feeding. But opinions? Thanks for any help!

If you have practice forms, stay true to them 100%. (Step one, wash hands. Step two, don gloves....that kind of form).

You always wash hands, you always don gloves, you have to be sure the bed is locked, and in the lowest position with rails up when you leave a room....and take off the gloves the correct way and wash hands. Infection control and lowering the risk of falls is HUGE. Along with a gait belt, good body mechanics. Oh, and be sure that you are knocking on the door, asking permission to enter, and introducing yourself. Then explain to the patient what you are going to do.

Good luck and remember--infection control, and lowering risk of falls, and patient to be informed.

So, put gloves on with skills that don't require them? On my sheets, gloves aren't worn for vitals, ROM, change of position, ambulation, transfer, change an occupied bed, etc. I was going to wear them for occupied bed though. But wear them anyway? Lower the bed before starting any skill also?

Did you take the test if so did you pass? I'm challenging the test here in Florida and I'm so nervous. Was it hard?
