cna courses

Published

My wife is looking into becoming a cna. We were wanting to see where classes were available at near us. We live near fairview heights and belleville illinois. We have tried southwestern illinois college which is right down the road- but everytime there is an opening in the class it gets filled before we even get a chance to call on it. ANY SUGGESTIONS???

Check the local hospitals, they may offer, it is easier cheaper and less time less students. If they don't offer they may know where to go. I dont live in your area but took it at Res Hospital in Chicago, check all the community schools

I know that they have a good course for it at Harper College in Palatine, IL. but that seems pretty far from you and i dont know if you are willing to go that far.

That is pretty far away. I have looked at hospitals and nursing homes around here- and they no longer offer classes either. I did find a place in red bud illinois but they want 1000 to take the class.

I went through this myself and was directed to the following site by a department head at College of DuPage:

http://www.nurseaidetesting.com/trainingpgms.asp

I ended up getting a space at College of DuPage when somebody unexpectedly dropped out (or didn't pay their tuition). If I had not gotten in to the community college, I was going to go with a facility on nurseaidetesting.com's website.

Good luck to your wife!

Thank you- GONZO1224! THAT WAS A BIG HELP. YOU WOULDNT HAPPEN TO KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY PROGRAMS THAT WILL HELP TO PAY FO RTHE CLASSES. THE BECK CENTER WANTS $500 TO TAKE THE CLASS. THANKS AGAIN.

No, sorry. I don't know where you can go for free. I paid about $750 for the tuition; $150 for the books; and $200 for all my blood work, TB tests and physical. I had to have extra blood work done since my clinicals will be at a hospital. I still need to buy a stethescope, cuff and scrubs. I'm not worried about this because once I begin working as a CNA, I will be bringing in $$$.

Good luck with your search.

WOW- that was a lot of money to put out. It sound like i should go with the beck career center. they only want 500. after the class is over i will have to pay 50 dollars for the exam. thanks for you help.
