Hi,
I was just thinking that maybe I should become a CNA before I start ADN school this Fall. I was wondering if there are any people from south MS who can tell me of a hospital or facility that offers the training. You know, where they hire you, train you, then you take the certification exam. I know they are down here. People have told me about them before, but I can't recall. Anyway, thanks.

It certainly cannot hurt. And SOME programs require this anyway. The experience you will gain will be very valuable, as a CNA.

Hello Bumashes - I just finished a CNA program in California before I start the ADN program this fall. Here is a link you can check out:
http://www.asisvcs.com/publications/pdf/069912.pdf You may be able to find some information there. I would highly recommend taking the CNA classes before going to the ADN program. I'm really, really glad I did. Best wishes!

Hey, thanks for the link. I took the practice test and missed 9 out of 60, which I guess isn't that bad since I have absolutely no medical background whatsoever.

The Mississippi Nurse Aide Registry is maintained by the Mississippi Department of Health. You can get information about becoming a CNA in Mississippi at this website http://www.asisvcs.com/indhome.asp?CPCAT=0725NURSE I could not find a listing of approved CNA courses, so your best bet is to call their offices and ask for a list.
