CMA not getting along

Published

Warning this is long. I am the new CMA at a clinic I have been working there about a month so I know I'm just a baby leaning my way around. Two cohorts have been really hard on me and trying to be my boss.

One day at the end of the day I had two PT left to room I had a room open and went to room the next PT. Person A let's call her Lisa comes up to me and asks me what I'm doing, which I say rooming a Pt. She says no your not you are going to room 9 and doing 2 tests on this PT. (I never room that person she did) I knew my Dr would be pissed off if she came out of her room to an empty room when PT are waiting, rooming comes 1st, so I'm getting a little annoyed but I swallow my pride and say ok hoping I can do these tests quickly then room the PT.

She then starts in on me that I am rooming the wrong PT, she has no idea who I am rooming so now I am really annoyed and I will admit I had I little "bit" to my tone of voice when I said I am rooming John if you think I should be rooming Joe then I will room Joe but John has been waiting longer.

She he then blew up at me started yelling at me in front of room 9 with that door open and said COME HERE, COME HERE. don't you ever use that tone of voice with me. How dair you and just kept on yelling. ( which was waisting more of my time).

I took a day to think about the insudent because I will admit I had a tone to my voice, I knew I was doing something wrong ( I should be rooming the PT 1st always) she was accusing me of doing something wrong that I wasn't doing wrong and she was stressing me out. But I still should not have used that tone with her. Still her yelling was out of hand.

The next day I went to the boss to tell her the whole insudent even my tone of voice as soon as I mentioned Lisa's name she told me 3 people had already come in to complain about the insudent, I didn't need to say a thing they were going to talk to her.

Now if Lisa asks me to go to lunch and I say I'll go in 5 min. I just want to finish up with a PT she will go to the boss. It's getting insane even my boss is rolling her eyes when she talks to me, and I have to explain I needed 5 more minutes with a PT.

What can I do about this tit for tat game she seems to want to play with me?

The 2nd ma was constantly looking at my PT files to see if I was doing things " her way " even though she had no real reason to be in those files. She'd follow me into the lab and start asking me what I was doing in there.

One time i recieved a urine sample from a PT that would need to go out for a special test. I asked the ma that works with this Dr if we do this and she said this Dr does it for his PT all the time. Well ma miss norseybody starts in with no we don't. So I said I am writing the PT name on the sample and leaving it in the lab until I have a chance to talk to the Dr about it. I told both ma's who were the only ones around.

Later on when I pass the lab I see my urine sample is missing. I start looking for it and it's in the trash. Miss norseybody admitted to throwing it out stating she felt it was contaminated. It was in a bottle from a different lab, labeled with that labs sticker. But I have run urine samples that came from Tupperware bowls. Plus our urine catch cups are not sterile, they are clean but not sterile. The only ones that are sterile are the drug cups.

When I finally got a chance to ask the Dr he said to send out the sample. She tried to tell him the sample was contaminated and he told her to shut up. I did go to my boss because she threw out my sample when she knew I wanted to ask the Dr about it. She is now giving me the cold shoulder. She will not talk to me at all which is actually kinda nice since she isn't going threw my PT files anymore. But still I feel it should be a team.

Thanks for any advice, I'd like to make it work out here.
