Clinical abstractor

Hi all,

I have a question for the nurses in informatics. Do you think a job as a clinical abstractor will give me relevant experience I need to work in nursing informatics?

A little about me- I am a RN trying to get into the field of nursing informatics. As of now my clinical experience comes from the ICU; I have a BSN(not positive in my next education step (MSN informatics- or a bachelors in IT w/concentration in health informatics).

Any advice is helpful, Thank you!

It could be since it can relate to the data gathering process and maybe building process when implementing a project.

If you already have a bachelors, a masters in nursing informatics or health informatics might be better, since later on you can even go for managerial roles.

What exactly does a core measure abstractor do? Trying to find a job working from home as a core measure abstractor and they are asking me what experience I have.

Thanks
