do pts with cirrhosis have bruising i am so confused?

Bleeding and bruising occur when the liver slows the production of proteins that makes the clotting factor.

Splenomegaly can also result from impaired liver function thus leading to thrombocytopenia....thus increased risk of bleeding as evidenced possibly by bruising.......
lav is also of course spot on, risk for bleeding is a two edged sword in hepatic failure

The easy bruising is from the decreased production of blood clotting factors by the diseased liver. When you think about cirrhosis, think about esophageal varices which is a high risk bleeding complication from cirrhosis. That's how I remembered this! Hope that helped some.
