Well I have been accepted to both College's and haven't decided which one to go to. I understand the Christ is not accredated as a college but as a diploma program. They are currently going thru the accredation process. Good Sam is accredated. Any Cincinnati locals care to give an insight to this dilemma?

healthlink,
this is straight off the christ college's website...
"the christ college of nursing and health sciences is: approved by the ohio board of nursing, authorized to grant an associate of applied science in nursing degree by the ohio board of regents, and approved by the state approving agency for veterans' training."
they have made the transition from a diploma program to the associate's degree program by the addition of general education courses. i'm not sure if that will help you with your decision, but good luck!

If finances are an issue, I would choose Christ School of Nursing. They wil pay for the program if you work for them for 3 years. You have to sign a contract, but three years will by.

Yeah the way I see it, you have to work somewhere right? And it would be nice to know that you have a guaranteed job right out of school, with no student loans. I was accepted to Christ and will be attending there in August! Healthlink, if you're still undecided, perhaps you could go to the next one of Christ's talk and tour dates. The next one is April 17 from 6:30-8:30pm. Or you could go to the Student services orientation on March 29th (there should have been a paper with your acceptance letter about this). Going to that orientation does not mean you have to attend Christ. I spoke to the Asst. Dean yesterday and she said that many questions will be answered on the 29th, and you'll get the chance to chat with current students there. Just a thought.

I plan on applying to Christ within the next 2 weeks and I didnt even know about them paying your tuition if you sign a contract with them. I realize this post is a little old but does anyone know if this is still in effect? I didnt see anything about it on their website so I was just wondering.
Starmickey03,
As far as I know, as a current student at Christ, they no longer offer the tuition benefit award. I guess whatever money was funding that, has run out. They do however, have financial aid now, which they didn't have before. So there are a number of ways to fund the tuition now. Back when I started, in August of 2008, all we had were a few need based scholarships and the tuition benefit... if you have any questions I'd call the college. On the college website, go to the directory (top left of the webpage) and look up the Financial Aid director, who is really helpful and nice. Good luck!!

I also heard that they are no longer offering the tuition reimbursement/work contract deal. I don't know what the exact details are but I would ask the school before making your decision. That is great that you got accepted to both schools!
No the tuition benefit ended with my graduating class (class of 2010). Those who took it owe the hospital 3 years of service or 20,000. However not everyone will get jobs, there are no guarantees and the last graduating class had great difficulties getting a job. So the market is especially tough for new grads. Not many hospitals are hiring unless you have experience. The program is an excellant program and I highly recommend it if you are serious about going into nursing. Great staff and they genuinely care about the students.
