Choosing schools??

I'm on the fence about going to nursing school. Ive looked into the community college route but both of the local community colleges have waiting lists for up to 3 years and now I've been looking at ITT Tech's school of nursing, carrington college, and chamberlain school of nursing all in the city of Phoenix but now my issue is my schedule because I just got a full time job as a phlebotomist which I went to school prior..

So my question to you out there is are these schools any good, and of so what can I do to make this work bring single and on my own

The first thing I always say when I hear those type of schools is to consider whether you want to continue school beyond RN. Make sure the school is NLN or CCNE accredited. If they are not, you may have a hard time or be unable to get into graduate programs.

Also, I know you want to start as soon as possible, but really consider the cost of the program. I've seen some good advice to not borrow more than you will make your first year as a new grad.

Good luck!!!!

Good day:

I would encourage you to spend time doing a lot of home work comparing schools.

Will you get a diploma? A degree?

What's the schools retention rate (i.e. x people accepted to a class, y people end up graduating)?

What's the first time NCLEX pass rate for students who went through the program? How does that pass rate compare to the state you reside?

See if you can visit the school (do they have open house / tours).

See if you can talk with current students.

What are the teacher's like?

Can the credits you earn be transferred?

Thank you.
