Chicago ADN programs

Does anyone know of any programs that would accept me for this summer or this fall??? Or are the waiting lists insane? Does it matter the deadlines have passed? I have a Bachelors degree and a Master's degree in an unrelated field.

Thanks so much for your help.

When I went to RN school, and submitted my application, they told me there was no way I would get in for at least a year( I did this in April Many years ago)and that the classes were chosen in Dec. BUT they told me to come and take the entrance tests. I took them, and the next day, I WAS IN> they said I scored so highly that they could not pass me up . I had to arrange financial coverage in 2 weeks, and show up for school. So IT can happen quickly even with waiting lists and long ago selected participants.

Hi Sarah,

As recent as 20 months ago all programs that I checked had an application date around Feb to March for the Fall start. Also, I finally made it after years of missing entry dates and having *a* class or two not completed from the 10 classes listed for pre-reqs. I applied in time and was slotted to start in the fall of 05 at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights and also tentatively for Harold Washington College.

However I decided to go with a MS entry program because I was accepted there to.

Best advice is to suggest that you complete all the pre-reqs and find out schools with use ranking versus waiting lists.

My personal suggestions? Personal only, are to avoid Moraine Valley and South Suburban College in the South and Southwestern suburbs, (merely for their waiting list and treatment of students as "dispensable"-from my own experience and from interviews with other students and graduates).

Good luck!

p.s. OH!!! you are already a post graduate graduate...if you have completed the core requirements you might be eligible for a post-bacc BSN or an MS entry...I am at DePaul and while my application was started by the deadline, it wasn't complete until later, (they let me come in conditionally accepted in the middle of the summer.) It might be worht a try, they are very expensive and the office is so shortly stafffed but, BUT, they have a September start AND a January start. :)

Hello,

I attend Prairie State College in Chicago Heights and right now I can say that there is a waiting list to get in there. I had to repeat second semester with about 30 others, and we had to do a lottery system to see who would get in and the rest would have to wait because there were not enough seats. So those people are waiting as well as others trying to get into the program. It's a really tough program, but very thorough.

As for South Suburban, I know from co-workers that attend there that they are on the verge of losing their accrediation.

Hope this helps a little.

GOOD LUCK!

How is Prairie State's Nursing program?? Would you reccommend the program? Do you really feel like it prepared you for the hospital experience
