Chemistry pre-req

Published

Hello,

Just this week, I realized that I no longer wish to pursue teaching and would rather go into nursing.

I was wondering if anyone can please let me know if taking Concepts of Chemistry was acceptable or if I have to take General Chemistry.

I emailed a few advisors yesterday but figured it would take a while to get back to me because of the break.

Thank you so much. I appreciate your help. ;)

It should tell you in their catalog/online what the exact requirements are for each degree.

Depends where you want to go.

All CT Community colleges accept Concepts of Chemistry.

Do you have a degree already? It's not clear from your post if you already have a teaching degree or if you are switching midway through a bachelor's.

If you have a BA/BS already, you may want to look at an accelerated BSN program. SCSU's ACE program requires General Chem. UCONN's CEIN program accepts Concepts of Chem, but someone I talked to said they might be switching to General Chem.

If you are still in college, look at what your college requires. WestCONN traditional BSN students take General Chemistry 1 and General Chemistry 2.

Most schools post the plan of study on their websites, so you can look and see what a BSN student would take at whatever school you are interested in.

Depends on the school. Check the schools' websites for their specific lists of pre-requisites. SCSU required General Chem this year.
