I work in a jail and we are baffled as to why the inmates are cheeking Wellbutrin. What can they gain? What kind of high can they get? We are eagerly awaiting a response! Thank you!

From what I'm told Wellbutrin acts as a stimulant when crushed. Crazy! The inmates say the rush is a lot like cocaine but is considerably shorter lasting.

Funny, my facility makes use crush it and put it in water....so we might be giving them their rush! Great.

cheek it then crush to snort. You might see behavior changes, act like on amphet. Can cause seizures more easily in those prone to them as the rush is faster than digesting. Not to speak of the other people in tank who are sharing or being threatened not to talk. I've heard of I/M doing the same with trazadone for a quicker sedation effect.
We don't crush our wellbutrin until they are caught cheeking then we crush it. But it has been happening so much that now we will DC if being cheeked. Inmates are being strong armed for it left and right!!! CRAZY! Thank you everyone for the responses they are very helpful!

Why don't we just install a Valium salt lick in the pods ... we would have absolutely no problems after that!!

We took Wellbutrin off formulary because of the extreme potential for abuse. Our first hint of trouble was when we started getting kites asking for it by name without stating an underlying problem.
