CGFNS

Hi everyone,

I just need clarification here. I am a Canadian nurse. Just applied for California licence by endorsement. I have a social security number and have taken my nclex. I did also apply for the CGFNS. I am not sure if I need the CGFNS at all. I am told I would if I was doing travel nursing but not sure if I want to do any travel nursing I want to apply to hospitals directly. Please any advice?

CA does their own assessment of IENs unlike other states that use CGFNS

oh no...received my visa screen certificate. If I don't need it then money down the drain.

You need visa screen to obtain a work visa whether EB3, H1B, TN or otherwise

California do not need CGFNS but they will accept EDAS instead of transcript coming from your nursing school. visa screen is needed to get your TN visa. FYI, i recently got my TN and the border officer asked me a credential evaluation report that my education is equivalent to at least a BS degree. I explained to him that visa screen included an education evaluation. He still asked me to come back and present a letter for credential evaluation other than the visa screen.
