CE's

I'm not sure if you have to have a certain # of hours. I know I quit working for about 2 years to spend more time with my kids and as long as I'd worked at least 900 hours (I think that was the amount) during a 5 year period and kept my liscense renewed each year, it was ok. Check with your LLR there to be sure how it works in your state.

Have you thought about getting some kind of work part-time...like maybe even a PRN position at a hospital so you can keep up your nursing skills. I found the "if you don't use it, you lose it" saying to be somewhat true. While it did come back to me, it wasn't without having to ask a lot of questions. Where I work PRN 2-4 days a week, depending on when I want to work, I'm only required to work once every 3 months in order to stay employeed there.

I graduated last year with my RN but have been full-time with my kids and have not worked; however I do want to keep my license current. I was wondering how other nurses not working keep up their CE's or any nurses who fulfill their CE's online and what sites are best for the lowest costs. Thank you for any help.

hey! im a SAHM in your exact same situation. i graduated august 2003, worked two months as a GN and RN and then went on leave to have my baby, and then decided to stay at home for a year.

if you do not plan on working for a while you may want to put your license on inactive status. i may be wrong but i have a florida licence which i will put on inactive status this year for the first time. they do not require ce's for inactive status. i do them anyway to maintain my knowledge. my favorite site is http://www.nursingspectrum.com because they offer one free ce every month. let us know what you do.

Whatever you do, do NOT use medceu.com. They double billed my credit card last year for their 39.95 unlimited CEU special. I had to have my credit card company remove the extraneous charge. Then I heard that some states do not honor their CEU's. I tried calling their company but got an answering machine.

it is good to keep updated with your career,i've been working for 6 years and i'm trying my best also to be updated.
