CES Report and eligibility

World Registration

Published

Hi all. I'm a foreign educated nurse and I'm trying to get my licence recognized by a US BON. My CES Report has been issued a few days ago and made electronically available to the BON I applied to. I believe it is going to take about a month to have a reply from the BON, but my question is: once you got your CES report (positive) can the BON refuse to give you the Elegibility to take the NCLEX? Thanks in advance.

Yes, the BON can refuse to grant an applicant eligibility to take the NCLEX, as they hold the ultimate authority and the CES report is only advisory in nature.

HI DISHES, thanks for your comment.

I see but i find it very weird. Why using a CGFNS service when they want to have a final screening? It is a waste of time and money for me and for them! I just hope they don't give me any more problem.

All CGFNS do with CES is put all your information into a report. The BON will review the report and decide if you meet their requirements

Hi Silverdragon102, I have to disagree with you since CGFNS questioned my nursing clinical hrs in some nursing areas and I had to do extra clinical hrs in a few specific fields which are not mandatory in my country. They said they would have issued a "non in compliance" CES Report which, obviously, wouldn't have been accepted by the BON I applied to. Take care

Each BON that uses CGFNS will have given them their requirements. Each BON will make their own assessment on what the report shows and then make their decision. We have seen this with Florida and nurses able to go in front of the BON and plead their case and gain approval to sit NCLEX

I don't know what to say. When i talked with the person in charge of My CES Report she said they don't have specific requirements Or can suggest a specific nr of clinical hrs since every school/university has got its own standards. I wanted to make sure i was doing the right amount of hrs but i just had to go with what we do in My University...

we have seen it several times that some states are slightly different with their requirements than others. As you said all you can do is get the university to complete the paperwork as per the training and wait to see what the BON says.

Good luck

yEAH, YOU are right. I just hope they don't give me a hard time. Thank you

hi alberto37 I am currently waiting for my CES report as well and passed the last required documents last week (june 09, 2017) and i read your thread... i didn't know that they can question your clinical hours...i thought they will just validate that everything is genuine...can you give me an update regarsing your CES report? thank you

Hi sam2017, it took me 3/4 months to get a reply from CGFNS and then they told me that I didn't have clinical hrs in three nursing fields, psychiatry, pediatry and community nursing, and therefore they couldn't issue my report. Or if they had done it it would have been deemed no good by the BON I applied to. So I had to do extra clinical hrs on those areas, they are not mandatory in my country, and then my University sent all the documents to CGFNS and they finally issued my report (positive). All this costed me 4 extra months of struggling plus I'm still waiting for an answer from my BON if I'm eligible or not for taking the NCLEX. I hope this can help you. Best
