Hi,
Is a Credential Evaluation (CES) or a Certification Program (CP) from CGFNS needed for foreign nurses who want to get their RN license in Washington DC? According to CGFNS a CP is required. However, a CES may be accepted too. I called the Board of Nursing in DC and the person I spoke to told me that CES and CP are the same?! It's not the same because CP is: credential evaluation + test. When I look at the application package of DC it seems that only a CES is needed. This is very confusing.

As per the state BON website
International applicants must provide:
1) TOEFL iBT or IELTS exam results
2) CES Evaluation sent to the board by CGFNS. Contact CGFNS at CGFNS International | Global Credibility | Credentials evaluation and professional development services that provide strategic value and direction to health care professionals worldwide. to apply.

So just go with CES report which is a breakdown of your transcripts opposed to CP which is an actual exam
Thank you for your reply. Luckily, I found the same information and already thought that only a CES report (transcripts and course-by-course evaluation) is required. Glad to have this confirmed by you. I think that there is contradicting information on the BON website, because I also found this document: http://doh.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/doh/publication/attachments/registered_nursing.pdf. This document is from 2004 and mentions the CGFNS examination (certificate) as a requirement.

It says on their website once you're certified with CGFNS certification program CES is included and it's valid for life. Now my question is... if BOn ask me to provide CES do I have to go through the same process of requesting records of my nursing education record and license where I came from?
