cecal mass?

I am working on a patient profile (an agonizingly timr consuming assignment!) which must be very detailed but I am having a hard time with describing a cecal mass, along with possible causes. the pt had a colectomy to remove the mass. but I need to go ino detail about what a cecal mass actually is and what is the cause or some contributing factors.

any ideas? I would GREATLY appreciate any help!

Was it made of the person's tissue? Made of organic matter? Was it made of feces? Why was it removed? Was it causing an obstruction? Why was a colectomy required (obstructions aren't necessarily indications for a colectomy; only if there's been tissue necrosis from tissue hypoxia). Have you tried googling "cecal mass" ?
