CCSF Spring Program compared to Fall Program?

Hi Everyone!

After 5 long years of finishing pre-reqs and three years of applying (one of which I totally botched and failed to get into the lottery), I FINALLY got accepted to the CCSF RN program for Spring of 2011! I am so excited and nervous. I am wondering how the spring program differs from the fall program. It seems that I would have one semester, and then a summer break, since CCSF is not holding summer classes. This seems a little weird, and I'm wondering if you feel like you've forgotten everything by the time you return in the fall.

Also, it appears that a lot of the new grad programs (like Kaiser) start in the summer when the usual fall programs graduate. Is that true? Is it harder to get a job if you graduate in the winter?

    hi! im waiting to here from CCSF in May for Fall 2011/Spring 2012! i really hope i get in!!! this is my third time applying, so I am hoping that my chances are better despite the 900 applications they recieved. i heard a lot of great things about this program and am willing to be challenged! :D

    Does anyone know if CCSF just look at the "Individual Adjusted Total Score" or do they look at EACH category to see if you have above a 67% for TEAS version 4?

    My individual adjusted total score is above 67% but one of the category was below 67%.

    Can anyone briefly explain the admissions process. It is a random lottery? Is there any guarantee of eventually getting in (with the right gpa & pre-reqs)? Is there anything I can do to increase my likelihood of acceptance? I am moving from CT to SF & want to start an RN as soon as possible- and other than state universities this seems to be my next best & ONLY choice in the area.

    CCSF is changing the admission process for Fall 2012. They use to have a separate lottery pool for those who are reapplying and new applying students. Now the school is putting everyone in ONE pool.

    The number of times your name is put in the lottery depends on how many times you applied. Example: I applied twice to CCSF so my name is put in the lottery twice. I am not sure if they are still doing this.

    There is no guarantee of getting in CCSF. Even if you have a high GPA and a great TEAs score. Your best chance of getting into a school is to apply EVERYWHERE and I mean EVERYWHERE. Some schools accept students with great GPA and TEAs scores, and others accept students base on lottery. It is a really competitive program. Good luck!
