Hey everyone.

I want to take the CCRN exam this coming summer and wanted to check in with those of you who are currently certified especialy those of you who recently passed the test.

I have about 5 years high aquity ICU experience, 9 months IVR (travel assignment), and about a year now in a very busy level 1 trauma center ER (I dont want to take the CEN yet).

Most of my colleagues who are certified say they studied about 6 months.

I have Laura Gasparis Vonfrolio's DVDs but havent decided on which book to get, either the AACN core curriculum or other?

So my questions are:

How long to study?

What book to use?

Thanks!

I used the Gasparis DVD's. They were my lifeline! In my opinion those DVD's helped me more than anything else.

I purchased the CCRN exam question book (the green one), as well as the 'Pass CCRN' book, but I only used this book for the CD that comes with it for the questions.

I also studied about 4-6 months of the DVD's and doing questions.

Best of luck

It seems like the Gasparis DVDs and the "Pass CCRN" book by Dennison is the best combo to use to pass the CCRN. Most who have taken it agree that the test CD in the book most resembles what your test score will be on the actual exam.

Same here. I even went to see Laura Gasparis-Vonfrolio in person! She's wonderful!! I got her book of questions for CCRN exam as well as the Pass CCRN but only for the DVD!

Good luck!!

Thanks for asking this question. I would like to sit for this as well, but I am fearful. I think I have bought every CCRN book/DVD/CD under the sun and I have overwhelmed myself with information.

I would appreciate the repsponces in this thread!

Good luck to the initial poster who is taking the test this summer!:yeah:
