CCBC Spring 2017

Ok so I am taking a big chance hear and gearing up to apply for the RN program for Spring 2017. Its a big chance because I still need Human Anatomy 1 & 2 and microbiology. Im taking two of these classes next fall. My gpa right now is a 3.05 and I am planning on taking my teas at the end of June. Im hoping my extracurricular activities like me doing medical missions trips and my work experience(I work in a hospital) will be looked at when entering. Also I plan on scoring really high on the teas test. Ive been studying my butt off non stop with the teas test book. I know its a slim chance because i haven't finished my sciences yet but I am hopeful. What are everyone else's credentials? scores? gap? if you have them!

I would say the science section is the most random section on the test compared to the others so that would be the most challenging. I got a 88.1% in reading, 86.7% in math, 85.4% in science, and 90% in English and language usage. You however, might do better in the science section. You will know your weakness after you take the practice test.

Nice scores! I'm actually take the TEAS next week. Any specific study materials you used to prepare for the TEAS... Especially for the science portion?

Thanks. I just studied the ATI guide and took as many practice tests as I could. My Bachelor's degree was in Biology, so I have a stronger science background. However, I will say the first pretest I took, I got a 60% so studying and the tests definitely helped.

Okay thanks slot for the tips, it just the point of waiting I emailed her today so I will wait for response I just don't want them to overlook my application because of one score.

Have faith. I am surprised there isn't more people that have said they are applying for the spring.

So did you only take the 2 practice tests that are inside the ATI study manual?

Yea and whatever random questions I could find online.

Hi everyone, im really concern about my gpa. It's 2.7 and my teas is 84 and 81 in reading and I applied to CCBC only. Do you guys know anyone who got accepted into Ccbc with this low gpa? I have all Cs in my sciences and A in psychology so idk how it's going to help. But I really wanna start this spring.

Which location are you applying to? I spoke with Mrs. Jones and she said in spring 2015 or 2016 the lowest gpa they took was 2.65. So i would say you have a chance. Also, I emailed her today because my CAS gpa is a lot lower than the GPA her and I had calculated in her office. She reassured me that they do not go by the CAS GPA.

I'm applying to Ccbc Catonsville. Who's Mrs jones? And what's her number? And I repeated my science classes. Both of them so I hope cas won't count that ow my gpa will be less than require one

Oh ok. Mrs. Jones is at Essex. Catonsville has another lady incharge of advising for Nursing. You should reach out to her. I don't call Mrs. Jones. I go to her office or email her. They don't use CAS GPA. They take the highest grade you have for each pre-req and calculate the gpa that way.

Ah I'm glad now thanks a lot for the info. Just want to make sure which pre req do they count except bio 110,220,221,230 and psychology 101,103 and statistics?

English 101, communications 101, an arts and humanities elective. I didnt have communications, but she said that I could substitute another arts and humanities course so she said my philosophy 101 course would work. Im taking nutrition this fall and it says something about chemistry 107 and 108 if you are applying to the ATB program. I already have a bachelors so a lot of my credits transferred in. I would really talk to one of the nursing advisors at the school to make sure you arent missing anything. If you are you should take it in the fall because they do not advise taking any classes other than your nursing classes once you begin the program.
