What does your facility's policy and procedure say?

Usually if there is a question of patency, you can flush with a piston syringe and sterile h2o, I usually flush gently 10-30cc's or so. take it apart at the connection to the drainage bag , the piston syringe will fit nicely, just use the irrigation kit for NGT's to do the job, and just make sure the kit has a piston syringe, some dont--your facility may have both kinds
