Case Western

I have decided to apply to Case Western, and I am wondering if anyone has applied or gone there. I did a search and it seems like a couple of people started there last fall. If you are still around, how do you like the program? Is it really April before you find out if you're accepted? Any information appreciated. Thanks!

Case has some drawbacks, just like any other program. But, it is consistently one of the better programs in the country for a reason. I will say that there is variability in the program depending on where you do your clinicals. Currently there are three sites: Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, University Hospital, and Summa Hospital in Akron. Some people in my class found out within a couple of days, others found out several months later. I don't remember for sure, but April is awfully late. But, Case holds rolling admission interviews unlike most schools that do them at only one period throughout the year.

What are the drawbacks? I have heard there is some variability among clinical sites. Maybe the April timeline was the latest you could be accepted; I didn't realize they did rolling interviews. If you don't want to post the drawbacks here you can PM me. Thanks for the help!

I have been in the program since last August and I love it. There are people in my class who found out 1 week before class started that they were offered a position. I personally found out a week after my interview. I believe those that found out later may have been alternates, but I am not sure. One of the things I like most about the program is we have been in the OR's since the 2nd week of school. We attend class 2 days a week the first semester and clinicals 2 days. Second semester we have clinicals 3 days a week. For those who are at the Cleveland Clinic for clinicals, we are very independent in the OR's already. I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Good luck!!

how long is the Case program?

It is 28 months.

I am from Ohio and thinking about applying to the Case program. I worked at Akron Children's in the OR where many students rotated through from Case. Do you recommend the program now that you have graduated? Also, any pointers on applying to the program? Thank you!
