How do you learn about case management and get a job doing that, if you have always been a "floor" nurse?
Anyone have any stories, ideas?

Shezam,
I don't have any experience in case management but was interested in it as well. Most of the employment opportunities I have seen request LTC experience or Hospice experience, some require a certificate in case mgmt. I have seen some online- programs for this- but the one's I saw were kind of expensive. Another requirement I have seen is to be knowlegable in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement (which I am sure is taught in the certificate program).
I too am a floor nurse and look forward to reading the replies from case managers. Good luck in acquiring the answers you seek.
