case management help needed

I need to know how to get someone to train me so I can take the case management test in 2 years time?

I'm an RN who can no longer do floor nursing due to a back injury. I've been on disability but want to do something when I'm off. I can't seem to get anyone to hire me because of the training involved. Any ideas?

I wish I could help, but I am in the same position as you and have been trying to get a Case Management position also. I am always told that I have no experience or certification. Hire me then I will get experience and then I could get the certification. Its so unfair. And there is a ton of CM positions open out there, but I just keep applying and applying.

Have you considered a masters in Case Management? Seton Hall has a good program and it's on line. Also try your local HMOs.

There are online course programs, also. A friend of mine is taking courses through Kaplan and I know the University of California-Riverside has online courses through their continuing education department.

Hi

You may want to check out the website ccmcertification.org -it will tell you everything you need to know to become certified. If I remember correctly, you have to have at least 1 year experience before you can take it. I agree with the person that said to try local HMO's-many times they will train you with no case management experience.

Good luck!
