Carees in U.S

Published

My Spouse is currently working as a nurse in Saudi Arabia..... as a RN.

I need some information as mentioned below:

- Is there any mandatory exam that has to be completed to get the job in U.S

- What kind of VISA should be applied for nurse job

To work as an RN in the US he would have to complete the application for the state he wants to work in. Every state has different requirements. He would have to have the education completed that the state requires in order to be allowed to take the exam, called the NCLEX. If he doesn't have enough education, or the right education, he can be refused. If he has everything in order, he needs to pass the exam. Probably best to contact the nursing board wherever he plans to work and find out their requirements. There's also a website for the board of nursing online, maybe take a look?

Starting point would be meeting state requirements for RN. Each state has their own requirements and you can find links to the various board of nursing (BON) at the bottom of the page. Once they have met requirements and passed NCLEX they then have to start looking for employers willing to sponsor for either a work visa (H1b) or immigrant visa (green card) In today's current climate it is hard to find a employer willing to pay $$ to go through the process. Depending on place of birth will depend on how long it takes to get a immigrant visa allowing you to live and work in the US. Where was he born and which state are you both looking at for living and working?
