To work as an RN in the US he would have to complete the application for the state he wants to work in. Every state has different requirements. He would have to have the education completed that the state requires in order to be allowed to take the exam, called the NCLEX. If he doesn't have enough education, or the right education, he can be refused. If he has everything in order, he needs to pass the exam. Once they have met requirements and passed NCLEX they then have to start looking for employers willing to sponsor for either a work visa (H1b) or immigrant visa (green card) In today's current climate it is hard to find a employer willing to pay $$ to go through the process. Depending on place of birth will depend on how long it takes to get a immigrant visa allowing you to live and work in the US.
