Nurse wanna-be

i am very much interested in a career in nursing. i am a bubbly friendly person. however i am also a bit of an independent soul. i am wondering how much of nursing is team work and how much is individual.
thanks so much

most rns are supervising the work of others. we are also primarily problem solving and managing the care of patients. this is a job you will like. it requires a great deal of independence, thinking and decision making. there are rules we all have to follow as a group, but as a nurse you will do your thing and i will do mine. we help each other out as we can. teamwork is not what you are thinking.

I'd say on my unit it's about 50/50 teamwork to individual. It's ICU so there is really no one to supervise or delegate to. It's a lot of collaboration w/ the medical team and keeping them on top of things and pushing for orders that you need, family education, helping out pod mates, etc.
