Can't think, need help.

Hi everyone,

I am very worried about my career as a nurse. I have graduate and worked on a cardiac floor 4 years ago. then I decided to get my BSN degree in nursing. The thing is I am now a full time student I will graduage by May 2012 but I could not work while in school and taking care of my family. I am using my savings. That is not the problem. My problem is should I get any job on any floor to keep my nursing skills, FYI by the time I graduate I will be out of nursing for a total of 2 years, Or should I wait until I graduate and gain my BSN and search for a job. I am confused I do not want to stress my self out by being a full time student, full time mother and a stressfull job:confused: but at the same time I don't want to hurt my career I love being a nurse and I can't wait to practice it again.

Please give me advice on what would be the best to do.:uhoh3:

    You've already been out of work for a few years....what's another 7 months. The job market is tough right now and there are many unemployed nurses. You said you graduated and worked on a cardiac floor...did you pass NCLEX? and are you an RN?

    Whether you are or are not a RN makes no difference. BUt as a new grad with NO experience as an RN it would benefit you to try to get in the door somewhere as the market is very tight....Good LUck

    Concentrate on finishing school, don't look for another job right now. Stress is not worth it. You want to be there for your family and you want to finish school with your full attention geared toward that right now. Adding a job to the mix, and especially if you consider taking any nursing job - there is the adjustment to a new job which could possibly use up every last reserve you have, not to mention if you take a job that really isn't what you are interested in but take it just to have a job. It isn't worth it! I know because I have stretched myself too thin and now I'm not able to be fully present and there for the people I love at home or do my best job at work. I have two jobs... took an extra nursing job I didn't think I'd like... big mistake. Plus I feel I'm internalizing this stress and it will affect my health. You don't want that to happen. Just stick with what you are doing and when it comes time to find a job after you graduate, you will be fresh and new, motivated and future employers will recognize that.

    I agree. Lots of real garbage jobs out there now too. If you've been out for a while, most places have got worse. I think going to school and family and work - all at the same time - if the job is not one you are settled in and KNOW you can do school with is just going to mess all three up.
